Ali Tekbaş Concert

Ali Tekbaş is a Kurdish musician dedicated to preserving and reinterpreting traditional Kurdish music, with a particular focus on dengbêj,the ancient Kurdish storytelling tradition. Traveling through Kurdish villages, he has collected and documented numerous folk songs, ensuring that these musical narratives continue to thrive. His work balances preservation with reinterpretation, bringing the rich heritage of Kurdish music to contemporary audiences.

In 2012, he released his album Seliqe under Kalan Müzik, reflecting his deep commitment to Kurdish musical traditions. As a member of Lawje, he works to bridge the gap between the past and present, keeping oral traditions alive.

Beyond music, Tekbaş has contributed to theatrical productions rooted in Kurdish storytelling. He has performed in the Kurdish adaptation of Hamlet, which premiered in Amsterdam, as well as Mem u Zin, one of the most important works of Kurdish literature. He also took part in the Kurdish adaptation of Tosca, translated from Italian and premiered in Amsterdam.

Through performances, recordings, and international workshops, Ali Tekbaş continues to celebrate and share the legacy of Kurdish folk and dengbêj,music with audiences worldwide.

This show will be performed in Kurdish.

Behind the Screen

Behind the Screen explores social media’s emotional impact as Romi’s 'Rapid Romi Run fuels' a race for validation. Through a dynamic street dance performance, the show critiques the rise of online trends and the deep emotional needs often masked behind the digital facade. Dancers embody the highs and lows of virtual approval, showcasing how fleeting likes and comments shape self-worth.

The production highlights the contrast between curated online personas and real-life struggles, questioning whether validation through screens is ever truly fulfilling. By blending movement with storytelling, Behind the Screen encourages audiences to reflect on their own digital interactions.
